At age 21 I started looking for my own answers. I spent the next 18 years in various types of offices.  I tried six kinds of psychotherapy, attended human potential trainings, 12-step groups, four kinds of chiropractic, acupuncture, homeopathy, Reiki and a bunch of other natural and New Age stuff. I read self-help by the score—tried everything but medication.

None of it worked. 

I was pulling more.  I was less happy than ever before.  In the spring of 1994, after that behavior therapy session, I got totally disgusted with the endless search.
